The longest street in the city.

The longer, the more to see, the more to walk around and enjoy.

the vintage look of our common lover Kato.

Bite it, chew it, get mad - and most of all

beware of the native Jabberwockies... Boo !

PART 3

WOJEWÓDZKA STREET

Wojewódzka street starts from the intersection

of the Jan Kochanowski street ,Kosciuszko street and St. John's street,

next to the Rialto Theatre Cinema-

( built in the same year that Titanic lost it's battle with an iceberg)

-and the railway viaduct.

It's quite long, filled with miscellaneous, young people hidden in their apartment houses glued to apple monitors or with their nose in a book.

Old people buying milk and bread in the nearby "żabka" network store ,

talking about latest news on their body's condition.If living at the end of the street, they also probably have an honor to listen to various sounds coming out of the superb building of University of Music.

Throughout 1900-1939 Wojewódzka was a home for 3 hotels ,

Saw & Tools factory " Globus", printing house, asylum , school , editorial office , restaurants , coffee shop , Alois Hermstein's dairy , pharmacy "Under Providence" ,Metallurgical Plant "Torpedo"

and even - oh dear infinite universe - CHOCOLATE FACTORY !

( not the Willy Wonka's one unfortunately )

Filled with historical record, a walk taken on Wojewódzka's pavements is like discovering a drawing of an engine for a time machine.

We still need to build the engine based on the drawing, and figure out how the rest of the machine should work , but with a little help of imagination it's more than possible.

Don't forget to sneak into all these interesting side-alleys where the most tasty flesh of the city can be found and eaten with no cutlery or manners.

PART 2

STARY DWORZEC

Behold the sleeping Antique Beauty!

Longing for times of glory, abandoned and betrayed so many times,

despite all the humiliation and attacks

-still trying to proudly face the Dworcowa street,visitors and locals.

The saddest BUKA-alike building in the entire city.

I am afraid of it yet I can't get my eyes off of it.

I'm scared & in love at the same time.

I'm waiting for winter to see it's snowy dress.

It's better than to see it naked.

Built in 1846 looking poorly ,it's final visage was not complete until 1906.

Too small for developing city it was replaced by a new railway station building in 1972.

( which by the way now is turning into a shopping centre and

loosing almost all of the previous drunken charm )

Throughout 2009-2011 several attempts and actions

to save STARY DWORZEC from breaking into pieces

have put it's great importance to the attention of Kato citizens.

Ideas varied.

From to adapt it as a casino,

throughout a spot for short music festivals,

to a night club & art gallery

- still it's future is misty like it's appearance.

Get in the mist

& swim across effluence of it's spirit !

PART 1

TYLNA MARIACKA street

Tylna Mariacka is located in the city centre,

parallel to main Mariacka street.

Tylna Mariacka may seem less attended than the main Mariacka street

but not only it's visual quality is way much more interesting.

Wicked situations happen here after midnight,

mainly related to an intervention of people in black uniforms...

-but also literally magical things like pink-dressed fairy visits,

turning water into wine and meeting a ghost of hooker named LALA

in one of the sinister backyards.

Let's dig some of the visual quality:

Below hen's cross-section mural was made by artist ARYZ

during Katowice Street Art Festival in 2011

and is for sure one of the most colorful & wicked in the whole city.
